The Future is Now 

Public education and teaching as a profession are in peril, but together we can turn this around.   

In the coming years CTA will need leadership that retains the best of what we are and leads us in bold new directions.  

Here’s my four-point plan:

·        Push for school reform that makes schools the center of the education universe, where teachers and other education professionals are the decision-makers;

·        Drive resources to our locals to create centers for organizing for school reform and political action;

·        Create a long-range public relations plan to highlight all that is good in public education and debunk the myths of a failing education system;

·        Unionize every charter school.

Never before in the history of our union and profession have we needed unity more. Now is the time to close ranks and support a common goal for the advancement of public education and empowerment of education professionals. Together we can do this.
